Amy Halvorson, DVM
Dr. Halvorson was born and raised in Wilson, NC. She attended NC state for her undergraduate degree in Animal Science and then she continued her stay with the “Wolfpack” at the NC State Veterinary School where she graduated in 2003. Mason and Scout her dogs, and Helen her cat live with Amy along with her husband and son. Dr. Halvorson has been working in the veterinary field since she was in high school and has interests in areas such as internal medicine, Neurology as well as chronic pain management.
Carrie Dixon, DVM
Dr. Dixon grew up in West Virginia and graduated from Virginia Tech with a biochemistry degree in 2000. She then attended veterinary school at the Ohio State University. After graduating in 2003, she practiced in Morgantown, WV for several years before moving to Wilmington with her family. Dr. Dixon loves all areas of companion animal practice, but especially enjoys dermatology, pain management, caring for senior pets, and promoting the human-animal bond. When she’s not working, Dr. Dixon enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, playing on the beach, and serving in her church. Her family shares their home with two cats that undoubtedly run the household.
Dawn, RVT/Practice Manager
Dawn came to LaCroix with 20 years of experience in the veterinary medical field. Joining the LaCroix team in 2017 as the Practice Manager after working several years in emergency medicine Dawn was excited to get back to general practice where she could bond and interact with the clients and their furry loved ones. Dawn moved to Wilmington with her husband and their dog Toby in 2015. Since moving they have added Gizmo, a loving mixed breed to the family and are enjoying coastal living.
Candice is a Veterinary Technician that any hospital would be lucky to have. She is kind, compassionate and gentle with even the most challenging patients. She has been a constant for our clients since joining the LaCroix team in 2010. She and her family love going on trips and taking care of their dog Duke and the ducks. No matter what the holiday you can count on Candice to be festive with her jewelry.
Kerri is a Missouri native who moved to the coast in 2015 to pursue her dream of working with sea turtles. She is a great part of the team here at LaCroix. Her compassion for the patients is second to none. She volunteers at the sea turtle hospital in Topsail. When she lands the dream job of working with the sea turtles she will be irreplaceable. She and her two cats Mr. Skin and Franklin are enjoying the Wilmington area.
Rachel, Veterinary Assistant
Rachel came to LaCroix from Wisconsin. Since being with LaCroix she has shined with her caring nature and infectious good spirit. She and her fiancé Jake love taking trips with their two dogs Layla and Dimitri. Rachel loves the outdoors and explores many of the hiking trails in the area in her free time.
Jessica came to our team as a part time receptionists while she finished school. After graduation we were only too happy to offer her full time with us. Jessica loves interacting with the clients and saying hi to their furry loved ones. She is a hardworking person that has a “can do” attitude. She always has a smile to welcome you to our hospital and loves to spend time with her family and friend in her free time.
Kassie and her infectious laugh left emergency medicine and joined LaCroix in 2017. She fit right into the receptionist position and our clients love her. She has been thinking about going to tech school to continue her education. Kassie is very willing to step in and help out the team wherever she is needed. In her spare time she keeps her cat Nora out of trouble and spending time with family and friends.
Emily, Veterinary Assistant
Emily is the newest member to our LaCroix team. She has come to work with us part time just this year and we are excited to watch her grow with our team.
